Latest filings follow favorable Patent Court decision in June confirming the validity of key FormFactor Korea Patent
LIVERMORE, CA — August 9, 2006 — FormFactor, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORM), an industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of semiconductor wafer probe cards, today announced the filing of two new patent infringement lawsuits against Phicom Corporation, a Korean corporation. The lawsuits, filed in Seoul Central District Court, seek injunctive relief and allege Phicom’s infringement of FormFactor’s Korea Patent No. 252,457, which in June was upheld in its entirety by the Korea Patent Court over Phicom’s unsuccessful appeal.
Igor Khandros, FormFactor CEO, stated, “FormFactor invests in innovation and our customers rely on the fruits of this investment to meet their technical roadmaps and reduce their overall cost of test. With the backdrop of the favorable June Patent Court decision, these latest filings in Korea are directed to protecting innovations already recognized as valid by an appellate court in Korea.”
The new Korea actions follow the Korea complaints FormFactor filed against Phicom in 2004, and the US patent infringement action filed against Phicom in federal court in Oregon in 2005. In all of the US and Korea actions FormFactor alleges Phicom has incorporated FormFactor’s proprietary technology into Phicom products.
