We are excited to share an exciting announcement regarding our probe card business.

We have completed the acquisition of the probe card assets of test equipment supplier Advantest Corporation. The acquisition adds key technical capabilities in critical sub-components, as well as incremental NAND Flash market opportunities.

Included in the transaction are Advantest’s entire operation located in Baldwin Park, California, and its probe card related IP. All the acquired assets will be integrated into our Probe Business Unit. The newly added probe card technologies add to our memory product portfolio which addresses all memory device applications—NOR/SPI and NAND Flash, as well as DRAM.

The acquisition augments our leadership in the advanced probe card market. Earlier this year, FormFactor was recognized as the world’s #1 supplier of semiconductor probe cards, and was named a 10 BEST and THE BEST Supplier in VLSIresearch’s annual customer satisfaction survey in three categories:

  • 10 BEST Focused Suppliers of Chip Making Equipment
  • THE BEST Suppliers of Test Equipment
  • THE BEST Suppliers of Test Subsystems

The survey includes the feedback of worldwide semiconductor manufacturing companies, rating suppliers in 14 categories, and measuring in each – supplier performance, customer service and product performance. The results mark seven consecutive years that FormFactor has been selected in THE BEST Suppliers of Test Subsystems which includes manufacturers of probe cards, test sockets and device interface boards. In April, the company was also ranked as the world’s top supplier of semiconductor probe cards in a separate VLSIresearch report (VLSIresearch, April 2020, The Probe Card Market Analysis).
