LIVERMORE, Calif. – Feb. 5, 2003 – FormFactor, the world’s leading provider of advanced wafer probe cards, today announced that Frans van Wijk joined the company in November 2002 as senior vice president, marketing and business development. Prior to joining FormFactor, Frans was with ON Semiconductor, where as vice president and general manager, he held overall P&L responsibility for the $300 million Broadband Business Group. Previously at Philips Semiconductors, as senior vice president and general manager of the $375 million Logic Products Group, he was instrumental in increasing earnings, cash flow and sales. In total, he has a 20-year record of leadership experience in general management and marketing for major semiconductor companies.
“The addition of Frans to FormFactor’s management team is an important step in our campaign to elevate wafer testing as the critical enabler in streamlining the semiconductor pipeline from design to systems. Frans’ strong understanding of the intricacies of the entire semiconductor supply chain, and his background in design, manufacturing, marketing and sales of semiconductors will add an important new dimension in meeting our customers’ evolving needs,” said Dr. Igor Khandros, FormFactor’s president and CEO. “His broad experience base will also help FormFactor expand our leadership positions in both the DRAM and flash memory markets, as well as further penetrate the logic market.”
“FormFactor has fundamentally changed our customers’ approach to wafer test,” said Frans van Wijk. “I am excited to join a company that is truly mission critical to leading semiconductor companies. Our products enable customers to reduce cost of test when they build new fabs, expand capacity, transition to more advanced processes, and introduce newly designed products. My primary responsibilities will include maintaining the vitality of our products and finding new markets where we can help our customers reduce test cost and improve product performance.”
Prior to his position at the Logic Products Group, Frans held a number of other senior executive positions at Philips Semiconductors in the field of consumer ICs, both in the United States and abroad.
